Although we’ve passed the frost date here in Northwest Arkansas, there’s still a little nip in the air early in the mornings and late in the evenings.What does that mean for plants? It means that, although we’re technically safe from a frost and can plant just about anything, there are still a few lovelies that will absolutely thrive in this current weather.
This annual is a cool season plant that does well in both full sun and part sun. Also known as Osteospermum, the African Daisy boasts a very unique bloom and the flowers are excellent for cutting (long-lasting!).
There's no better time to put your perennials in the ground! They love to be planted before the weather is blazing hot.Columbine is at its peak right now, and will continue to bloom through early summer. These beautiful weirdos will catch anyone's eye with their spurred flowers in shades of blue, pink, red, white, and yellow. Also a favorite of hummingbirds and butterflies!
Also a favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds, Dianthus is low on maintenance, but not on color. This beauty grows well in tough conditions, and does well in both gardens and containers. Their blooming season takes place spring through summer, making this a great time to add them to your landscape. We have both perennial and annual varieties of Dianthus.
Herbs have a great reputation for their easy upkeep, and lavender is no different. This aromatic herb welcomes the occasional cool, damp day, though, which makes it a great plant to have in the ground right now.
